Concurrent Master of Business Administration/Master of Public Health in Global Health Management
The Full time Master of Business Administration/Master of Public Health (MBA/MPH) in Global Health Management allows students to develop the skills and knowledge to become effective leaders in global health management. Students will be able to apply advanced management skills to the challenges in their future fields of interest, such as pharmaceutical policy and management, HIV/AIDS, or global health management consulting. The MBA/MPH in Global Health Management prepare graduates for current and future challenges in the following areas:
- Ability to strengthen capacity of government and private health organizations for transparent governance
- Delivery of effective and quality services to an increasing number of people in needs
- Improving health status and furthering development internationally especially the most disadvantaged populations in the world.
The program is available only as a full time curriculum and takes approximately two and half years to complete (including two summers). The program is designed to provide a foundation in core disciplines of public health with specific training in the student’s chosen area of concentration. Graduates of the Global Health concentration will be able to demonstrate the skills needed in program and budget management to design and implement health programs in low and middle-income setting.
Concurrent – Master of Business Administration/Master of Public Health dual degree in Health Policy and Management
The School of Public Health (SPH), The Health Policy and Management Department, The Graduate School of Management (SMG) and The Health Sector Management Program administer the Master of Business Administration/Master of Public Health dual degree in Health Policy and Management jointly. Coursework in this dual degree program provides students with a foundation in both management and public health within an integrated, structured curriculum focusing on the current healthcare system in the US. The eighty-credit MBA/MPH in Health Policy & Management is a full-time accelerated program leading to the completion of both the MBA and the MPH degrees in 2 years (including summers).
In addition to required competencies for all MBA and MPH students, Health Policy and Management graduates will be able to:
- Analyze structure, process and outcomes observed in the organization, delivery and financing of health services and the relationship they have to the historical and contextual influences in comparing those aspects of the US system and those in other developed countries.
- Understand current Healthcare policy issues facing local, state and nationwide communities. Have the ability to evaluate policies for effectiveness, efficiency and equality identifying factors that influence success in implementation.
- Assess political, organizational and occupational structures, culture and norms and how they influence how Healthcare is provided and the factor affecting strategy promoting an organizations position.
- Appraising Healthcare quality data and measuring methods for quality improvements while identifying quality improvement and approaches for implantation of change.
Concurrent – Juris Doctor/Master of Public Health in Law and Public Health
The Juris Doctor/Master of Public Health in Law and Public Health dual degree program is an accelerated program awarding both the JD and MPH degrees and can be completed in seven semesters. The JD/MPH dual degree program provides skills and knowledge for success in the field of health law and policy, where the new Affordable Care Act is causing increasing needs for attorneys with specialized expertise. Although law is key in protecting public health, knowledge of the disciplines of public health is essential to current health law practice. Protection and enhancing of the health of populations and individuals requires a multidisciplinary approach in the identification and resolving complicated problems of social and economic importance. The MPH program allows students the understanding of the complex issues of healthcare and public health. Students gain an ability to read and understand relevant literature, navigate complex systems and identify ways law should apply to healthcare practice. This forty-eight-credit program includes thirty-two credits in SPH coursework plus sixteen transfer credits from LAW courses. JD must be completed on a full time basis while MPH coursework can be completed on a part time basis.
Concurrent – Master of Science/Master of Public Health in Medicine and Public Health
The Division of Graduate Medical Sciences and the School of Public Health at Boston University offer The Master of Science/Master of Public Health (MS/MPH) dual degree in Medicine and Public Health. The degree program trains students to become future leaders in the medical sciences and public health. Students take their core courses in the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences and the School of Public Health. This sixty-four credit hour MS/MPH dual degree program requires students to take separate degree programs, the MPH requiring 48 credits and the MS in Medical Sciences requiring 32 credits

The Medical Doctor/Master of Public Health in Medicine and Public Health (MD/MPH) Dual Degree combines medical and public health education preparing students to care for the health of individuals and their communities. The MD/MPH Dual Degree is designed for students pursuing future medical careers that will combine both public health and medicine in the current health care environment. This full time program allows flexibility while combining a traditional MD preparation with a specialization in one of the following areas of public health:
